Most richly blessed: part three:

The 2nd of March is the birthday of Dr.Suess. It is also the birthday of my Grandson,Samuel Nelson Rye. His
great grandfather's name was Gullick Nelson Rye. When he came to America at the age of sixteen, his name was
Gullick Rye. Friends and relatives urged him to Americanize his name so he became Gullick Nelson,i.e.,son of Nels. My Father was a farmer and when he sold a load of hogs the check was mailed to another Nelson. My Mother paid off a loan at the bank and it was credited to another Nelson. It seemed at that period in time in Minnesota, everyone was a Nelson,a Thompson(my Mother's maiden name), a Nerison or a Johnson. My Father went to court and changed his name back to Gullick Nelson Rye and theerby hangs a tale. My oldest sister,Opal, was born a Nelson and then by court action became a Rye. When she was united in the holy bands of matrimony, she became Mrs.Elmer Nelson.
Donna and I choose Nelson as the middle name of our Son,Gregory, who is Samuel's Father.
Greg and Liza choose Nelson as the middle name of Samuel, our Grandson.
Samuel was six years old on his last birthday, March 2nd. and he is a joy to behold. I try to get to Colorado as often as possible for to be in his prescense is excitement, excitement excitement.
When I obtain the skills to scan pictures and include them in this account you will share in my joy!!
