Prelude to a birthday-Dan's-6

Donna's friend, Phyllis Pope of Riverside, California painted this picture of the Rye family farm home. She was also Randy's art teacher for a few years with great results.
Angela, Randy, Dan and Greg (6 months old) were treated like royalty by their cousins, the Helgesons, the Nerisons, the Norris Rye's, the Nelsons-by everyone.
My brother in law, Elmer Nelson, a most serious Swedish farmer allowed Dan to cultivate few rows of corn with Dan sitting in his lap on the big John Deere tractor but as soon as a hill or two was plowed up, the party was over

The picture now hangs in the home of Vivian Rye Helgeson in Bemidji, Minnesota and I got to see it again last month.
